Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that the State has made an unprecedented growth in renewable energy. In an year, the State has added an additional capacity of 126.6 MW.
In the period of 2016-17, an addition of 86 MW came from solar energy. Wind energy contributed 24 MW to the total capacity and 17.6 MW was realised with micro-hydel projects. The construction of 200 MW solar park in Kasargod is fast progressing, of which the work of 36 MW is completed.
Permission was granted for constructing a 3 MW solar plant in Ramakkalmedu. CM hoped that the innovative laying of solar panels and wind turbines together will be a new model for the country.
