Letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project water issue)

Dear Thiru Edappadi K. Palaniswami,

I write this to seek your urgent intervention for issuing necessary directions for the release of legitimate share of water to Kerala under the Parambikkulam-Aliyar Project Agreement by ensuring 400 cusecs discharge at the Manacadavu weir, up to 15th February, 2018.

During the extra ordinary meeting of JWR Board on 19th January 2018, it was agreed that Tamil Nadu would ensure discharge of 400 cusecs up to 15th February 2018 and further supply will be decided in the meeting to be held at Chennai on 10th February 2018, at Secretary level. However as per reports received, the discharge at Manacadavu was only 131 cusecs on February 6, 67 cusecs yesterday and only 32 cusecs at 8.00 AM today (08.02.2018). This is a disquieting trend and I am sorry to have to state that there is a continued reneging of the PAP agreement by the officials of Tamil Nadu. (more…)

Letter to Prime Minister (UAE visa issue)

Dear Shri. Narendra Modiji,

The Consulate General of UAE has written to me informing that UAE Government would issue fresh employment visas from 03-2-2018 only to those who produce a valid Police Clearance Certificate. In Trivandrum around 250-300 visas are being issued every day. Apparently in the other regions of the country the travel agents who process the other travel documents are also arranging to produce the police clearance certificates. While this may be an effective fast track mechanism, for the citizens, you would also appreciate that this is likely to be substantially misused. (more…)

The State Government has given in principle approval for the negotiated purchase of unutilised surplus land belonging to the FACT by the KINFRA, an agency of State Government. The land value has been mutually arrived at and an MOU has already been signed in this regard.
FACT, one of the oldest Central PSUs in the State, is in critical need of modernisation and expansion of its activities. Its revival has been under consideration of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers. The Ministry had initially decided that the amount so monetized be used for clearing FACT’s books of accounts/balance sheet so as to use the amount for expansion for FACT. (more…)
