Letter to the Minister of State for Water Resources (Thanneermukkom Barrage Project)

Dear Shri. Arjun Ram Meghwal,

Kindly refer to your letter dated 16th October, 2017, informing that the Ministry is yet to receive the proposal from the State Government on the modernization of Thanneermukkom Barrage Project.

The State Government has submitted the proposal for inclusion of the project under the Flood Management Programme (FMP) funding to the Ministry, along with the IMC clearance as per norm, as early as 20th March 2017. Though the IMC clearance was given, the Ministry could not include the same under FMP funding due to reduction of FMP budget for the whole country. (more…)

Letter to the Railway Minister (Shifting Kerala trains from Bengalaru to Banaswadi station)

Dear Shri. Piyush Goyal Ji,

I write this to draw your kind attention to the hardships that would be encountered by the passengers on account of the proposed shifting of originating station of four Kerala-bound trains from Bangalore City/ Yeshwantpur to Banaswadi.

More than five lakh Malayalees live in Bangalore, most of them employees of IT sector, Hospitals, students and traders, who basically depend on trains, since bus fares are comparatively on the higher side and bus travel inconvenient to relatively the aged and the sick. (more…)

Greetings from Kerala!

Sabarimala, the famous temple of Lord Ayyappa on the hills of Western Ghats in the Pathanamthitta District of Kerala is a very unique pilgrim centre. Perhaps, this is probably the one of the largest annual pilgrimages, where more than four crore pilgrims come to worship in a short period of two months- mid- November to mid-January every year. Letter to the Minister of Human Resource Development (SSA)

Dear Shri.Prakash Javadekar Ji,

I would like to draw your kind attention to the difficulties arising out of the latest decision of the Ministry to drastically cut the allocation of Central Assistance to Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) after the outlay was sanctioned in the Project Approval Board.

The Project Approval Board (PAB) had sanctioned an outlay of Rs 564.73 crore towards the approved Annual Work Plan for the year 2017-18, out of which the Central Share was worked out to be Rs. 338.84 crores. (more…)

Letter to Prime Minister (Rehabilitation of Endosulfan victims)

I write this to draw your kind attention to my earlier letter of 14th February 2017 regarding Central Assistance for providing relief and rehabilitation for Endosulfan victims of Kasaragod District.

Various studies by institutions of repute in the country have indicated that indiscriminate and unscientific spraying of Endosulfan in Kasaragod District over two decades has resulted in the increased incidence of congenital disorders, mental retardation and multiple disabilities involving a total of nearly 5848 cases. Letter to the Railway Minister (Track maintainers Thiruchirapally)

Dear Shri. Piyush Goyal Ji,

I would like to bring to your kind attention that I had received a representation from women from Kerala working in Mayiladuthurai section of Tiruchirapalli Division as Track Maintainers alleging that they are being subjected to severe harassment by their immediate supervisor.

I understand that the 17 women have jointly submitted representation to all concerned including Railway Board Chairman and to your office. Their request is to transfer him out of the section as they find it impossible or not feasible to continue to take orders from him. (more…)
