State Self Entrepreneur Development Mission launched

Thiruvananthapuram 02-02-2012: Entrepreneurial initiatives under the Kerala State Self Entrepreneur Development Mission will be co-opted as the State Government's own units and treated as such, said CM. He was inaugurating the State Self Entrepreneur Development Mission here today.

While the State leads in many areas of social and intellectual endeavours, it has clearly lagged in entrepreneurship and infrastructure development, said CM and added that these units are expected to offer direct employment to an estimated one lakh people, besides indirect employment for another five lakh over the next five-year-period.

The first batch of 812 will undergo training from February 6 for six weeks at 14 centres in the State, said Finance Minister and added that the new enterprises will also create incremental employment opportunities across the State, which is home to 43 lakh educated unemployed.

Ministers P K Kunhalikutty, M K Muneer, V S Sivakumar, Chairman and Managing Director, KFC, Mr Yogesh Gupta, NABARD Chief General Manager K C Sasidhar, Canara Bank Manager G Sriram were also present.
