All should unite for effective garbage disposal: CM
Thiruvananthapuram 06-02-2012: For the prompt and effective disposal of garbage in the state, the local self governing institutions and the public should unite with the Government, said CM. He was inaugurating the “Sukruthapuram” project jointly organized by Malayala Manorama and Suchitwa Mission.
The state didn’t have a good model to emulate as far as the treatment of wastes was concerned, said CM. May attempts to implement a model as a solution to this problem failed. But now the Government has in front of them a model based on the most modern technology. Government wishes to implement this with the participation of people, said CM.
For the plants to set up the primary requirement is land and if made available Government can implement these projects without delay, said CM and added that whenever such a move is made, tremendous resistance comes from the people residing in and around that area. This is mainly because they don’t have belief in these projects due to their previous experiences.
For this awareness needs to be generated. The wastes followed by the decentralization process can be used as bio fertilizers which in turn can bring up the vegetable production in the state, said CM.
Government will ensure the participation of people by creating awareness among them, said CM.
Ministers P K Kunhalikutty, M K Muneer, V S Sivakuamr, Sashi Tharoor MP and Mayor K Chandrika were also present.
