Truck mounted emergency incineration units for effective waste disposal

Thiruvananthapuram 15-02-2012: In the wake of the working of the waste treatment plant at Vilappilsala coming to a grinding halt, the Government has decided to import two Truck mounted emergency incineration units for the proper treatment of wastes in Thiruvananthapuram city. The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting held here today.

The units will have capacity of treating wastes up to 3 tones an hour, said CM. Each unit will cost around Rs 3 crores. CM said that the distributing agency will sign maintenance agreement for five years. SIDCO will import the units.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

The Cabinet has decided to approach Central Minister Vayalar Ravi for conducting the 11th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Kerala. This was communicated to the minister during the last Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Jaipur. Kerala has got the right to conduct the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas as the total expatriates from Kerala will constitute 10% of the total expatriates.

Karunya Lottery

The Government has given sanction to implement the Karunya Benevolent Fund. This scheme would provide financial assistance to poor persons suffering from Cancer, Hemophilia, Kidney, Heart diseases and for palliative care too.

Till date 18 luck draws of this lottery have been completed. The amount collected will be used for the treatment expenses of these patients.  For implementing the project, Apex Monitoring Committees will be constituted with Finance Minister and District Collector as Chairman in State level and District level respectively.  The present administrator for the Karunya Benevolent Fund will be the MD of Kerala Medical Service Corporation.

Ayurvedic Dispensaries

Ayurvedic Dispensaries would be started in 24 panchayaths. Four posts will be created in each dispensary. Kannur- Alakkode Nellipara Ayurveda Dispensary would be upgraded to a hospital.

Under 17 World Cup Football

Cabinet has marked its happiness in considering Kerala for being a part of the under 17 World Cup Football to be held in India in 2017 by FIFA. Cochin Corporation will be directed to sign the agreement in this regard.

Azhikode Memorial

Government will take up the House at Thrissur and other belongings of Sukumar Azhikode and will be preserved as memorial, said CM.

Rice Procurement

Rice will be procured at Es 15 per Kg. Agriculture minister has been entrusted to decide on procurement of rice from other districts.

The monthly wages of Asha Workers have been increased to Rs 500 from Rs 300 with effect from 01-04-2011.

13 new posts will be created in Backward Development department.

A new bridge will be constructed parallel to that of Sree Sankara Bridge across river periyar. Rs 42 crore has been sanctioned for this.
