As Kerala did not respond in previous years our State was not included in the first phase of World Bank aided Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project. Discussions of the Chief Minister with Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests have resulted in including the State in the second phase expected to begin in September 2012. Project would include pollution control, mangrove and wetland preservation, provision of livelihood options for fishermen, etc.
