Thiruvananthapuram 18-07-2011 2.30PM: A UAE Consulate will be opened in Kerala within a year. This was conveyed by the UAE Ambassador to India Mohamed Sultan Al Owais after holding a meeting with Oommen Chandy
The Kerala government had written a letter on June 2 regarding this and the UAE Ambassador responded to this letter in June 6.
This Consulate will enhance closer contacts between businessmen and officials of two sides.
The UAE Ambassador has also proposed a budget airline ‘Fly Dubai’ for Kerala. CM pointed out that this required the permission form Central Government. The Kerala Government is interested in this new proposal as the air travel would become cheaper. This would be a help for lot of Malayalees.
Ministers P.K.Kunhalikutty and K. C Joseph also participated in the meeting.
