Thiruvananthapuram 21-07-2011: If the government could enter into a long term contract with Managements of Self Financing Colleges, then many new courses can be sanctioned, said Oommen Chandy.
He was responding to the demand of Management Associations to sanction MCA courses.
If a permanent solution can be reached regarding the self financing issue then no student will have to go out of the state to study, said CM. For this many new courses need to be introduced. AICTE officials have said that it is possible to sanction new courses in the field of Health, Tourism, Business Management and many more.
The classes for such new courses can be started in the existing engineering college buildings itself.
After signing the agreement with Kerala Self Financing Engineering College Managements, it is decided that government will hold meeting with Medical Managements next week.
Since the admission procedures have already started in the 11 Engineering Colleges under Catholic Managements, it may not be possible for the government to enter into a clear agreement with them.
However they have conveyed that they would try to work in lieu with the stand of government.
