Thiruvananthapuram 25-07-2010: The government is to seriously consider the implementation of Right to Services Act in the state, said CM. He was presiding over the annual meeting of District Collectors and Secretaries at Thycaud guest house, here today.
The outlook regarding governance is very much clear from the government’s 100 Days programme. The services that the people ought to get today cannot be postponed, said CM. All the government officials have a liability for this. CM said that the district Collectors should look into this matter seriously.
Oommen Chandy urged the Collectors to speed up the procedure of granting title deeds to all farmers who migrated to hills before 1977, if it’s legally clear. CM also pointed out that Aadivasis did not get the benefit of the fund that was allotted for their welfare. He directed the officials to take up this matter. The unfinished land distribution at Aaralam is one such failure, CM pointed out.
Emergency situations must be handled more effectively, said CM. He cited the example of Vengera tragedy where peopled died as they were caught in debris for more than 12 hours and said that crisis management is the onus of the district collectors. The government is keen to provide any help, he added.
Government’s 100 Days Programme will get over by September 12. Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishanan has directed all district collectors to speed up the procedure of granting title deeds and possession certificates to those deserved within the stipulated time.
