New Delhi 27-07-02011: The annual plan outlay of Rs 12,010 crore for Kerala has been approved at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy.
The annual plan outlay for this fiscal is about 20% higher than the last fiscal plan of Rs10, 030 crore.
Ahluwalia complimented the State Government for leading in Human development index including health and education sectors.
Stress would be given to Agriculture, Health, and Education sectors this fiscal.
The Planning commission has put forward some suggestions regarding the developmental activites that is to be carried out in the state. The sate would consider those suggestions and will move forward, said Oommen Chandy.
He said in spite of financial strains because of pay commission recommendation for higher allotment, the Government is committed to implement schemes to improve quality of life, enhance economic activities and improve agriculture production and added that the Commission should allow flexibility in the utilization of centrally sponsored schemes to improve achievement, CM said.
Oommen Chandy said that the state would fully utilize the fund allotted in a time bound manner. The last government had utilized only less that 87% of fund that was allocated.
The state intends to increase wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme from Rs.150 to Rs.200 and that would necessitate an increase in allocation by Rs.800 crore, said CM
Ministers K.M Mani, K.P Mohanan, K.C Joseph and K Babu also took part in the meeting.
