Thiruvananthapuram 03-08-2011: It has been decided by the cabinet to reinstate the anti defection ordinance in the Local Self Government Institutions of 2005, said CM. He was briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting.
Though the previous UDF Government had issued this ordinance the LDF government failed to pass the law. According to this ordinance Political party will have a major say in determining the fate of elected representatives of Local bodies at the time of defection.
It has been decided that the unaided schools run by minority/majority communities should follow the same fee structure, said CM.
A new Cochlear Implantation scheme will be launched in the state. Kerala State Social Security Mission will provide Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 2 lakhs would be given from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund towards this scheme, said CM. The children eligible would be those who are differently abled under 3 years of age.
All the appointments to Kerala State Library council will be through PSC, said CM.
The Land for international swimming pool complex at Pirrappancode will be exempted from stamp duty. Minority Finance Development Corporation will also be set up in the state.
Rs 25 crore has been allotted to Cochin Corporation to acquire the land in Pullepadi Thammanm road for metro rail.
The land for Mulavukadu road and Kumaranalloor Railway over bridges will be acquired under fast track project. Mooledam railway overbridge proceedings will be speeded up, said CM.
NATPAC has been entrusted to conduct a feasibility study and submit a report regarding the mono rail project in Thriuvananthapuram. It will be a 28 km line between Kazhakootam and Balaramapuram.
The canteen facilities enjoyed by Central police organization will be extended to the Canteen of Kerala Police, and will be exempted from VAT.
CM said that athlete Mercykuttan will be provided 10 cents of land in Marad which is acceptable to them as the land given by the previous government is under dispute.
The law department has been entrusted to prepare a draft regarding the implementation of Right to Services Act in the state. The retirement unification proposed by the LDF Government is already in controversy. Both these issues will be discussed with the Service Organizations and consensus reached, said CM.
The cabinet has also decided to increase the bus fares. The minimum fare for ordinary bus would be Rs 5 and for Fast Passengers would be Rs 7 but the passengers can travel two fare stages instead of one. . There is no major change to the concession rate of students.
