Thiruvananthapuram 05-08-2011: As an immediate step to ease the vehicular traffic at Wayanad Ghat roads, it has been decided to complete the tendered road works of Rs 18 crores before November 30, said CM. He was presiding over a top level meeting convened by him at the conference hall here in Trivandrum.

Maximum works should be carried out on days when it doesn’t rain, said CM. CM has instructed the officials of NH to take immediate steps to introduce the interlocking facility at six hairpin curves in the Wayanad Ghats.

The application to procure land for road construction should be submitted to the Forest Department within a week. Estimate should be made and works should be completed before December 31, instructed CM.

Police Aid Posts will be set up with the facility of Mobile units in these areas, said CM

CM also said that Government would consider the proposal of alternate roads and the construction of bridge at Byrakoopa and will also consider the construction of several new roads.

Ministers Aryadan Muhamamd, V.S Sivakumar, K.B Ganeshkumar, P.K Jayalakshmi, MPs M Shanavas, M.K Raghavan, MLAs Moyinkutty, A.C Balakrishnan, Wayand District Panchayath President Poulose and other officials of various departments also participated in the meeting.
