Thiruvananthapuram 10-08-2011: The meeting convened by CM has decided to provide basic facilities at a cost of Rs 79 crores to the endosulfan victims. 85% of the total cost would be given by NABARD while the government would bear the rest 15% of the amount.
119 different projects such as hospitals, schools and other projects that provide job opportunities will be implemented in these areas. The required land will be given by the Plantation Corporation.
NABARD has sanctioned the amount from its Rural Basic Development Fund. The project was given shape by a committee with District Collector as Convener and Sub- Collector as Joint Convener, taking inputs from 11 panchayaths.
Four block panchayaths, district panchayath, MLAs and MPs also helped to prepare the project.
Minister K.P Mohanan, P Karunakaran MP, K Kunjiraman MLA, District Panchayath president Syamala Devi, NABARD Chief General Manager K.C Sasidhar, District Collector K.N Satheesh and Sub- Collector Bal Kiran also participated in the meeting.
