Kottayam 30-08-2011: A holistic approach needs to be developed for the development of youth in the country, so that a generation can be created that could take up responsibilities in a society that is changing rapidly, having different challenges and apprehensions said President Prathibha Devisingh Patil.
Inaugurating the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations of Knanaya Catholic Archdiocese at Kottayam, she hailed the social commitment of the Christian Community and their contribution for the development of the state and nation.
President said that humanity was the greatest religion and it combined the basic tenets of all religions and added that the initiatives taken up by the Knanaya Catholic Archdiocese are a reflection of their social commitment.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy presided over the function. Major Archbishop of the Syro- Malabar Church Mar George Alancherry, Archbishop Salvatore P innacchio, Papal Nuncio, Supreme Court Judge Cyriac Joseph, Ministers K.M Mani, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and Jose K Mani were part of the function.
