Right to Service Act
The Cabinet has approved the draft of Right to Service Act submitted by Law Department. Briefing the media after the cabinet meeting CM said that the draft would be discussed with various service organizations and added that the Government is committed to ensure that services are provided to people in an efficient way and that too in a time bound manner.
Jan Maithri Police
The Cabinet has also approved the creation of 750 posts of civil police officers for the 148 Jan Maithri police stations across the state. CM said that 24 sports women will be appointed as havildars in the police force for formation of basket ball and volley ball teams. It is for the first time that a basket ball team is introduced in Police and Volley ball team after a prolonged gap of 35 years.
Action against DIG E. J. Jayarajan
CM said that disciplinary action would be taken against the Deputy Inspector General of Police E. J. Jayarajan who had harassed passengers in a train. Mr. Jayarajan, who was holding the post of Director of Legal Metrology, had been removed from the post as per the enquiry carried out by Additional Director General of Police A. Hemachandran who handed over the report to the Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose.
Whistleblower Protection Policy
The Cabinet has given approval for the whistleblower policy in the state which was included in the 100 day action plan of the Government. A four member committee has been appointed to formulate a policy for protection of whistleblowers, said CM. Government employees and members of public who give tips on corruption will be given total protection under this policy.
Debt relief for Coffee growers
The Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 10.78 crores to the Cooperation Department to implement a debt relief package for the coffee growers of Wayanad district.
Development Authorities
The Cabinet has sanctioned the formation of a Coastal Development Authority and Hill Area development Authority in the state.
Financial and Social Audit
Financial and Social Audit, a project listed in the 100 day programme of Governemnt will be conducted by State Planning Board for all projects in the state above Rs 250 crore.
Wikileaks
Replying to the question on Wikileaks revelations CM said that the American Diplomats had met him but there was no scope of news as what he discussed with them was the same that he promulgated.
CM also said that the Government had an open mind on the Attapadi package and is willing to accept better proposals.
