Thiruvananthapuram 15-09-2011: The Chief Minister today stressed the need for developing a transparent mechanism for the commercialization of patents derived out of Government funding. Speaking at the general body meeting of the Kerala Council for Science, Technology and Environment he said the research activities were to be reassessed and it should suit the requirement of the people.
The Government wanted the Council to play a crucial role in the development of the State and it would provide maximum support including financial assistance to the Council. Government hoped for the systematic functioning of all the institutions under the Council and maximum out put from each one of them, the CM said.
The meeting decided to attach advisory committees with each of the institution to guide their research activities. The committee will include experts from various fields.
Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, Planning Board Vice Chairman K M Chandrasekhar, Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran, Kerala State Council for Science, Tehcnology and Environment executive vice-president (in-charge) N P Kurian and other officials attended the meeting.
