Thiruvananthapuram 30-09-2011: Kerala was declared the first total banking state in the country. Now kerala holds the distinction of each household having at least one bank account and other banking facilities.
The banks can do a lot more to the state by shedding its conservative approach and should contribute for the development of the state, said CM while distributing the certificates to the banks that were part of the drive to take banking facilities to every part of the state.
CM also said that the lending to the agriculture sector should go up from the present 22 percent. CM also pointed out the need of extending the credit support of banks to the Clean Kerala Mission. He added that banks should extend more support in providing educational loans.
Minister K C Joseph, Regional Director RBI Suma Varma, Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran, NABARD Chief General Manager KC Sasidhar were also present.
