Kottayam 2-10-2011: Though the local self governing bodies are spending crores of rupees on various projects for disposing wastes, most of then doesn’t yield us the desired result, said CM while inaugurating the year- long Suchitotsavam at state level, which aims in making Kerala a garbage free state.
The main problem is that we don’t have a successful model to emulate as far as disposing of waste is concerned. It is only with the collective effort of citizens and Government devoid of politics can the state achieve the status of a garbage free state.
Gone are the days when Kerala ranked high in the health sector, said CM and added that the result would be catastrophic if we don’t find a solution to this.
Presiding over the function minister KM Mani said that awareness needs to be generated among people for effective disposal of wastes. We need to keep our surroundings clean. He added that the attitude of the people should also change.
CM administered the pledge to the people to make Kerala a clean state.
Ministers Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan delivered the key note address. MPs Jose K Mani, Anto Antony, MLAs Mons Joseph, Suresh Kurup, Kottyam Municipal Chairman Sunny Kalloor were present.
