Thiruvananthapuram 04-10-2011: The allegation that R Balakrishna Pillai had contacted CM through his Private Secretary’s mobile phone was totally baseless, said CM while briefing the media.
The alleged call was made at 5.55pm on 24-9-2011 and the CM was at Kottayam attending various programmes while the phone of Private Secretary was in the range area of a tower near Mulakkuza, Chenganoor. So the allegation is totally baseless, said CM.
This is for the fourth time that the same matter is raised in the House and proceedings stalled. CM said that he had neither called Shri. Pillali nor talked to him. “If I feel that I should talk to him, I’ll go for it after completing the procedures and obtaining permission from the officials’ concerned and there won’t be anything secret in it.” said CM.
CM said that he met Pillai at his home while he had been on parole. That was a public affair and no such things would be done covertly, said CM.
The Opposition is blowing up a controversy to distract the focus of the Valakom issue that has now been flared up, said CM.
Regarding the treatment given to Balakrishna Pillai, CM said that A Class status was given to him in jail by the previous LDF Government. A Government can function only as per the rules and laws. Government cannot deny such facilities in deserving cases.
