Thiruvananthapuram 11-10-2011: The meeting convened by CM has decided to conduct extensive sanitation drive at Sabarimala before the start of the season.
Rs 20 lakh will be sanctioned immediately for completing the work of the biogas plant being built by Erumeli panchayath. CM has instructed the panchayath to complete the work of the bio gas plant within a month. Pollution control board should submit the report regarding increasing the capacity of incinerator installed here.
CM said that the state would seek the help of Centre to implement the sanitation scheme for the rivers connected with Sabarimala pilgrimage modeled on the scheme to protect the Vembanad Lake. CM has instructed to prepare a comprehensive scheme for this with the help of experts from the state and outside.
Dewasom Board and Pollution Control Board should head the sanitation programme. For this checking would be carried out at Pamapa and Sannidhanam.
Tender process related to the long term contracts for sanitation at Sabarimala will be completed soon and the work would start soon after the end of this season, said CM.
Funds allotted to panchayaths and municipalities to provide facilities for pilgrims will be disbursed well in advance.
Increasing the width of Kanamala Bridge in the Erumeli- Pampa route will be considered, said CM. Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishanan said that the land acquisition for this is in the final stage.
Additional Chief Secretary has informed that parking facility will be provided at Pandalam for pilgrims.
Ministers V.S Sivakumar P.J Joseph, Government Chief Whip P. C George, Anto Antony MP, MLAs Sivadasan Nair and Raju Abraham were also part of the meeting.
