1766 teaching posts sanctioned: CM

Thiruvananthapuram 19-10-2011: The Government has decided to sanction 1766 posts in 146 aided schools effective from 6-8-2011, said CM. He was briefing the media after the cabinet meeting.

The last Government failed to create teaching posts, though they sanctioned +2 batches in these schools in the seven northern districts of the state. Earlier posts to 32 Government schools were sanctioned by this Government in August.

With the creation of new posts 1510 persons will get posting as Higher Secondary Junior Teachers while 110 will become Higher Secondary Senior Teachers and 146 Principal posts will also be created.

The Government has decided to formulate schemes for the primitive tribes in the state. The Finance Commission had earlier sanctioned Rs148 crores for this purpose.

As part of implementing this project, 6 Sectoral officers will be posted in deputation while 7 research officers will be taken in contract basis and 24 mediators will be selected from among their community, said CM.

Taking into consideration the unprecedented rise in the prices of fertilizers, the State Government has decided to exempt the 4% VAT and 1% surcharge on fertilizers, said CM. The farmers are expected to get a relief of Rs 35 crores annually.

The moratorium on repayment of debt to Endosulfan victims announced by the Government has been extended till 31-03-2012. 

A solatium of Rs 2 lakhs will be given to the family of Velappan who died in a car accident near Kayamkulam. He was traveling along with MLAs K Ajith and Thilothaman.
