Thiruvananthapuram 20-10-2011: All facilities required by the pilgrims will be provided during this pilgrimage season in Sabarimala, said CM. He was speaking at a meeting convened by him at guest house here. Queue complex will be constructed at Marakootam and Saramkuthi to control the crowd. One will be constructed by Dewasom Board and the other according to the master plan. The work will be completed before November 5.
The work of the 700 meter approach road to Bailey bridge is nearing completion, said CM. Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar informed that the work of the emergency road at Pampa has been completed. The sanitation drive from Pampa to Sannidanam will start from November 7. Almost 75% work of Swami- Ayyapan road has been completed.
The rubberised tarring of Chalakayam- Pamapa road will be completed this month itself. Dewasom President Rajagopalan Nair said that by not giving sanction for shops in the Pampa –Sannidhanam stretch, the pilgrims will get an additional space of around 6 acres thereby facilitating smooth travel in this stretch. Six new counters will be opened for the distribution of prasadams along the Bailey bridge stretch.
More security measures are in place and only limited vehicles will be allowed this year, taking into account the accident at Pulmedu during the last pilgrimage season, said DGP Jacob Punnoose. CM gave instruction to erect permanent barricades at places where pilgrims are stopped using ropes as instructed by police.
During the time of heavy rush, to control traffic, retired Army men and NCC cadets will be deployed. The service of police forces from Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka will be sought, said DGP.
The Director of Health department informed that the availability of medicines has been ensured and more doctors will be put on duty. CM gave instruction to place cameras and interceptors along the MC road to prevent accidents. CM also gave instruction to take necessary steps to prevent the accidents along the Changanaserry – Alappuzha stretch.
