Kottyam 23-10-2011: The decision to form an Inter-state council to coordinate the works at Sabarimala for providing better facilities to pilgrims was taken at the ‘Conference of Southern states on Sabarimala’ attended by the top officials from southern states under the leadership of CM.
Five acres of land will be provided at Nilakal to other states to set up facilities for pilgrims. Each state will open a Sabarimala Cell in the Secretariat. The Government will launch a Clean Sabarimala Campaign on November 7 to make Sabarimala garbage free.
Steps will be taken to bring medicines, doctors and other medical equipments to treat the pilgrims. A safety manual telling the pilgrims what all they should follow during pilgrimage will be brought out in different languages
Steps will also be taken to ensure that pilgrims are not transported to the state in Lorries. Each pilgrim should carry an identity card. The meeting has also decided to implement the Sabarimala Master Plan costing Rs 180 crore.
CM inaugurated the meeting which was attended by Ministers K.M Mani, V. S Sivakumar, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash, Ebrahim Kunju and Jose K Mani MP.
