Power plant to come up in Orissa

Thiruvananthapuram 24-10-2011: The meeting chaired by CM has decided to start a power plant in Orissa that can generate 200 Mega Watt electricity using coal, said Minister Aryadan Muhammad.

Plants will be built at Kerala, Gujarat and Orissa by a company jointly formed by the three states. Coal from Gujarat will be used to produce electricity at the plant that is to come up in the state while the coal from Kerala and Orissa will be used at the plant in Orissa to produce electricity. The electricity thus produced will be shared between the two states.

The plant in Orissa will be registered under special purpose act. Government of India has sanctioned 5 million metric tonnes of coal for the three states, said minister. Minister Kunhalikutty also participated.
