Sabarimala: Bailey Bridge and Zero Waste Project inaugurated

baily_sabarimalaPathanamthitta 07-11-2011: CM today inaugurated the Bailey Bridge-cum-diversion road that links Sabarimala Sannidhanam with the Chandranandan Road. The new road will be utilised as an exit for the pilgrims returning from Sabarimala during the annual pilgrimage season.

The Zero Waste Project at Sabarimala which aims to make Sannidhanam, Pampa and the traditional trekking route to Sabarimala garbage free has also been inaugurated by CM.

CM said that there should be a collective effort from everyone to make Sabarimala garbage free. This is for the first time that over Rs 5 crores have been sanctioned for this massive project. The works of Mata Amritanandamayi Math that brought the maximum number of workers to Sabarimala and other voluntary organisations are indeed praiseworthy, said CM.

The work of Math here is sure to resemble the works done by the institution during the tsunami disaster in the state, said CM. This project is jointly implemented by the Government and different voluntary organisations. As part of this project about 4000 persons representing different voluntary organizations are expected to take part in the week long cleaning drive.

Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned for the police mess and to meet the expenses of the Health Department staffs.

Lakhs of rupees have been sanctioned for Pathanamthitta municipality and other gramma panchayaths to pursue the cleaning drive and to provide facilities to the pilgrims who visit Sabarimala, said Minister KM Mani. Minister V S Sivakuamr who was present at the occasion said that before the start of the next pilgrimage season Nadapanthal would be built from pampa to Sannidhanam. A building of around 25,000 sq. ft. has been allotted for the functioning of hospital, he added.
