Thiruvananthapuram 08-11-2011: The Government will move forward with plans to set up a Malayalam University in the state, said CM. All the reports demanded by the Centre for providing the status of Classical Language to Malayalam has been submitted, CM added. He was inaugurating this year’s state level Malayalam day- Official Language week long celebrations here.
CM said that the Government is pursuing steps to spread the use of Malayalam to more areas as an official language. Poet Sugathakumari was felicitated at the function by CM by giving her a special award for her contribution to Malayalam language.
CM also distributed awards to P Santhosh and A. S Sasidharan, both clerks at Palakkad Collectorate. CM also released the special volume of Janapadham Magazine of PRD at the function.
