Thiruvananthapuram 10-11-2011: The Mass Contact Programme of CM has set the record not only in time but also in the number of complaints settled. CM heard the complaints of the public from 9.30am to 12.30am the next day- 15 hours of restless effort.
The programme here outplayed the one held at Kozhikode by handling more than 30,000 complaints and disposing of around 25,000 complaints on the spot. Those petitions which needed detailed study were directed to offices concerned for immediate action.
Thousands of people poured into the Stadium braving the scorching sun to get their complaints redressed in no time.
CM inaugurated the function by giving financial assistance of Rs 75,000 to Suresh a coconut tree climber who met with an accident and said that the Government should reach out to the people and should work from among them. He added that the Mass Contact Programme will bridge the gap between the people and various departments.
A total of Rs 60 lakh was disbursed as financial assistance to different people. For the thousands who came to the stadium pinning their hopes on CM, he did wipe of their tears.
The people thanked the CM for being with them in getting their grievances redressed.
Minister V S Sivakumar, Deputy Speaker N Sakthan, Sasi Tharoor MP, MLAs V Sivankutty, K Muraleedharan, Varkala Kahar Mayor K Chandrika, district Collector M Nandakumar and officials of various departments were part of the huge event.
