Thiruvananthapuram 11-11-2011: CM has instructed the District Collectors to take immediate steps to control the price rise of vegetables and eatables in the state. CM said that in the wake of Sabarimala pilgrimage season, strict monitoring should be carried out to check the prices of food in hotels. He was speaking to the District Collectors through video conferencing.
The quality of food served in hotels should be checked. It should also be checked whether the food is prepared under hygienic conditions or not, instructed CM.
CM has instructed District Collectors to hold a meeting of hotel owners before December 14. Strict action will be initiated against those who engage in food adulteration and also against those hotels that charge more for food stuffs.
CM said that more outlets will be opened to sell vegetables thereby ensuring quality stuff to people at reasonable prices.
All the help needed for the Food Inspectors and Health Inspectors will provided to carry out quality check of foods served in hotels.
The quality of rice given at Rs1 per Kg will also be ensured, said CM.
Minster V. S Sivakumar, Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, DG P Jacob Punnoose and other officials also were present.
