Thiruvananthapuram 17-11-2011: Government would seriously consider the deployment of more police personals in the state for controlling vehicular traffic and road safety, said CM. He was inaugurating the E- chellan project of traffic police.
Shortage of staff in police is the main problem that the state confronts. Strict implementation of traffic rules without causing difficulties to people is another challenge faced by the traffic police. CM said that by implementing mechanisms such as E- chellan such problems can be resolved to a certain extent.
E- chellan mechanism will be implemented in Thiruvananthapuram on an experimental basis and if found successful will be implemented state wide.
With the coming of this mechanism people can remit the traffic compound fee for violation of traffic rules through any SBT branches within 20 days.
Mayor K Chandrika, DGP Jacob Punnoose, Thiruvananthapuram Range IG K Padmakuamr, City Police Commissioner Rajpal Meena, SBT Managing Director P Nanadakumar were also present.
