CM in Delhi tomorrow

301111Thiruvananthapuram 30-11-2011: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will leave for Delhi tomorrow (01-12-11) and hold discussions with the central leadership regarding the Mullperiyar issue. Briefing the media on the cabinet decisions the CM said that Kerala’s stand on the issue, assuring water supply to Tamil Nadu, had got wide acceptability at the national level.

Kerala always wishes to continue good and healthy relations with the neighbouring state. He said the Cabinet examined in detail the report submitted by the Ministers P J Joseph and Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan who held discussions with the Central leaders the other day. The opinions of the subject experts and legal experts also came to the consideration of the Cabinet.

The State’s demand for new dam and lowering of the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam are directly related to the safety of the people. ``We have no intention to deny water to Tamil Nadu and the state would incur the entire cost of the construction of the dam,’’ the CM said. A decision on the special session of the Assembly to discuss the issue will be taken after consulting the matter with the Leader of the Oppositions. The State has also plan to lower the water level in the Idukki dam as a precautionary measure.

State Industrial Security Force

The Cabinet has also decided to form a 500 member strong new wing of State Industrial Security Force. The term of the PSC rank lists that ends before March 31, 2012 has been extended to April 30, 2012. A new fire force station will be opened at Kothattukulam and 40 new posts have been sanctioned for this.

Pension scheme for AIDS patients

The CM said that the Government has decided to launch a new pension scheme for AIDS patients in the State. They would get a monthly sum of Rs 400. In case the death of the patient the spouse will continue to get  the amount. In addition to this Rs 120 has also been sanctioned towards the cost of journey for treatment.

Rs 1.5 cr for IFFK

Rs 1.5 crore has been granted for the conduct of the International Film Festival –Kerala (IFFK).

Jayakumar spl officer for Malayalam University

Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar has been appointed as the special secretary of the proposed Malayalam University, the CM informed. The Cabinet has decided to allot 5 cents of land to Thikkodian memortial committee in Kozhikode. Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned for erecting a statue of Anie Maskrene.
