CM inagurated Grand Kerala Shopping Festival

021211_news_3Kochi, 01-12-2012: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inagurated the fifth edition of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) here. He said the Government has decided to establish a global village at Kochi as a part of GKSF.  Intial works for the village will commence soon after the end of this years’ festival. While inagurating the 45 day long festival he said that the event would give an impetus to trade and commerce across the State, as it did in the first four editions.

The featival has also formulated “darshan tourism”, which would help tourists to visit the places that they love to go, Oommen Chandy said. He said that the festival will be a success only with  grand support from merchants.

Excise Minister K Babu launched the GKSF-KTDC package. Tourism Minister A P Anilkumar, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany, MLAs Hibi Eden, Dominic Presentation, Benny Behanan Collector Sheikh Pareeth, GFSF director Rathan Kelkar and film actors Mammootty and Jayaram were present at the occasion.
