Comprehensive package for developing Kole farming

Thiruvananthapuram 07-12-2011: The comprehensive project for developing kole farming in Thrissur district submitted by the state is under strong consideration of the centre, said CM.

The CM added that though the project worth Rs 799 crores have been submitted to the Centre, opinions and suggestions of agricultural organisations and elected representatives will be considered.

Regarding the kole farming development package, discussion has been carried out with the Central Minister Sarad Pawar and he has assured to sanction necessary funds for this, said CM. It has been decided to submit the new suggestions to the Centre after examination by the expert committee under Agriculture department.

Minister KP Mohanan who was present informed that it has been decided to increase the production bonus of farmers from Rs 140 a hectare to Rs 1000 and pumping subsidy to Rs 750 from the present Rs 310.

CM has instructed the Thrissur district Collector to submit the report regarding the complaints in distributing compensation for the land acquired for construction of canals.

Minister C N Balakrishnan, MLAs Thomas Unniyadan and PA Madhavan were also present.
