Pathanamthitta 12-12-2011: There is going to be many reforms in existing policies that creates trouble to people, after the conclusion of Mass Contact Programmes in all districts, said CM. He was inaugurating his 8th Mass Contact Programme here at St. Stephen’s Convention Center here.
Separate review will be conducted for all the petitions received. The Government doesn’t claim that all the problems of the people will be resolved completely, said CM and added that the officials should render help so that no petition of people goes unheard.
Many things are not going according to the will of the Governemnt. The officials cannot be blamed for this as they are unable to act as the existing laws sometimes stands a blockade.
The success of Mass Contact Programme lies in the co-operation of officials, people and elected representatives. No one can do things here alone. It is the magic of co-operation that is reflected in the Mass Contact Programmes, said CM.
K Sivadasan Nair presided over the function. Minster Adoor Prakash, MPs PJ Kuryan, Anto Antony, MLAs Mathew T Thomas, Raju Abraham, District Collector P Venugopal were present.
40400 petitons registered
A total of 40400 petitions were registered apart from the new 5000. Rs 11.64 lakhs from CM’s distress relief fund were sanctioned to 220 persons while 1500 persons were given aid from family welfare fund worth Rs 1.50 crores. CM also distributed Rs 4.60 lakhs for marrying off the daughters of widows.
Rs 35 lakhs was distributed to 277 persons whose houses were damaged partially and Rs 9.10 lakhs to those whose houses were damaged completely.
CM also distributed financial aids to different thaluks too. Kozhencheri thaluk received an amount of Rs 30 lakhs, Adoor Rs 20 lakhs, Ranni and Thiruvalla Rs 15 lakhs each and Mullapally Rs 10 lakhs respectively. These amounts were sanctioned from the Collectorate finance department.
Pensions were also distributed in the programme. 916 persons received old age pension, 342 received agricultural labour’s pension while 120 were given disability pension. CM also distributed widow pension to 124 and unemployment pension to 57 persons.
