TN should address the concern of Kerala over Mullaperiyar issue: CM

Thrissur 15-12-2011: Tamil Nadu should address the concern of the people of Kerala over the Mullaperiyar issue, said CM. If Tamil Nadu has got any remaining anxieties regarding this issue, Kerala is ready to give surety in that matter. Kerala is ready to give water to Tamil Nadu. The state should take immediate steps to relieve the tension at the border places, the CM demanded. He was speaking at the Mass Contact Programme here today.

CM inaugurated the function by lighting a ceremonial lamp at the venue at 9.30 am.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mass contact programme. There is a huge turn out for the programme. Serpentine queues are visible in front of the counters at the venue.

The increased participation of people in Mass Contact Programme is a sign of people’s belief in this Government, said CM. They are sure that their problems will be resolved. Though decision on all petitions cannot be done in a day, the government is planning to bring in a monitoring system.

Minister C. N Balakrishnan presided over the function. MLAs Therampil Ramakrishanan, B D Devasi, V S Sunil Kumar and several elected representatives and officials were present at the occasion.

CM distributed solatium to several families. Abraham father of Anoop who died in a car accident received Rs 2 lakhs from CM. Pankajakshan who lost his legs in an accident at his workplace was given Rs 5 lakhs. Bushara mother of Nishitha who died falling from a bus was given a solatium of Rs 1 lakh .

Help was rendered to the physically disabled next. Till now Rs 29 lakhs has been distributed to 1511 disabled from the Chief Minister’s distress relief fund.
