CM said that he is happy to present the award to such a person who has created his own space in the field of journalism and has contributed a lot to this field.
Minister K C Joseph opined that though the Government is not thinking about curbing the freedom of press, they should use this freedom widely. Media should check the genuineness of the news that they carry on the context of several media reports about Mullaperiyar that ignited the issue to such an extent. He also said that media should think whether it is right in giving sensational news solely for the purpose of increasing the rating.
Sasikumar in his reply speech said that the belief of people in the news that the media carries is utmost important and it is the onus of the media to protect this belief of the people.
