Nirbhaya: Steps to render immediate help

Thiruvananthapuram 19-12-2011: A high level meeting will be held on Jan 3 to discuss the provisions for providing immediate help to the women and children who are victims of violence. This was decided at the meeting convened by CM here today.  Ministers M. K Muneer, Abdu Rabb, Adoor Prakash, P. K Jayalakshmi, K C Joseph and other officials will participate in the meeting.

The meeting discussed the setting up of Fast track courts to handle the cases of violence against women. A special centre will also be set up for the rehabilitation of the victims. Instruction has been given to identify land for this purpose.

The meeting also discussed the outline given to this project. For collecting the opinions and suggestions of the people the details of the outline are given in the website of Social Security Mission.  Training has been imparted to the protection officers.

Chairperson of Nirbhaya committee Sugathakumari, convener Saradha Muraleedharan, members Sunitha Krishnan and Lida Jacob were present.
