Thiruvananthapuram 21-12-2011 : Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here today that the Government had decided to shift the waste disposal plant of the Thiruvananthapuram city corporation from Vilappilsala. Government’s plan was to set up most modern plants causing least difficutly to the surrounding people, the CM said while briefing the media about the Cabinet decisions. New arrangements would be made in three months, the CM said. The Government had sought back the land, where the Vilappilsala plant is functioning now, from the Corporation so that new developmental organizations or higher education institution could be set up there, the CM said.
The 912 KSRTC conductors, unadvised by the PSC, and have been in temporary service since 2001 will be made permanent. Those who have completed 10 years in service among the 2472 other temporary employees will also be made permanent.
The Cabinet today decided to implement the recommendations of the pay commission for the Kerala Water Authority employees. The pay revision of the Khadi and Village Industries Board will be implemented with retrospective effect from 1-07-2009. A new corporation for the development and welfare of the earthen pot workers will be launched, the Cabinet has decided.
The Government has sanctioned Rs 55 lakhs for providing grants to the paddy farmers who had suffered loss following the collapse of the bunds in the C-block in Kuttanad. An additional Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned for the repair of the bunds. The Cabinet has also decided to sanction Rs 1.67 crore for the modernization of the roads in Sivagiri. In the wake of PSC’s denial to accept Government’s recommendation to extend the duration of various rank lists by the PSC the cabinet decided to put the recommendation once again before the PSC. Seven new posts have been created for the sub-court functioning at Karunagappally. Seven new posts, including those of superintending and executive engineers, have been sanctioned under the Kuttanad Package.
The Cabinet has decided to grant a solatium of Rs 5 lakh each for Ramya and Vineetha, the two Keralite nurses killed in the devastating fire in the Kolkota hospital last week. Besides, one each from the families of both the victims would get government jobs, the Cabinet has taken a decision in this regard.
