Thiruvananthapuram 28-12-2011: It has been decided to set up a waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram using modern technology. The city of Kochi will be benefited to a large extent by this plant. The decision came at the meeting convened by CM here today.
The new plant requires only half the space of the existing plant which is spread in 102 acres. The rest of the land will be utilized for new projects of Industrial- IT departments and the department is preparing a detailed plan on this.
Disposal of waste is a huge problem face by the state and the Government gives top priority to this, said CM. Apart from resolving this issue in cities, plants are also proposed to be built in villages too for proper disposal of wastes.
Minister P K Kunhalikutty said that the Government will give all help to the Kochi Corporation for going forward with their project for disposal of wastes.
Minister K Babu, Mayor Tonny Chimmini and Deputy Mayor B Bhadra were also present.
