Rank list: PSC should review its stand

Thiruvananthapuram 28-12-2011: Cabinet today once again requested PSC to extend the tenure of rank lists till April 30. Briefing the cabinet decisions here CM said that it is unfortunate that some PSC members are playing politics on the matter.

The PSC should review its decision of rejecting the recommendation, the cabinet had put forth twice, said CM. CM also added that the PSC didn’t have any legal problems in extending the rank lists up to 4.5 years. Also the Government doesn’t compel PSC to extend those rank lists against which new lists have already come into existence.

The present stand of PSC is likely to cause a crisis. The Chief Secretary convened a meeting of Department Secretaries and Department heads today. Instruction has been given to report the vacancies that are likely to come up till March 31 before 30th of this month.

Dineswara Sharma and Venugopal K Nair have been promoted as DGPs. R Sreelekha, Arunkumar Sinha and Subesh Kumar has been promoted as ADGPs. Promotion has been granted to Manoj Kumar as IG. Five SPs- T Vikram, Dinendra Kasyab, Yogesh Agarwal, H Venkitesh and Asok Dadar have been promoted as DIGs. K G Mohanlal and Jubidi Prasad have been appointed as Additional Chief Conservator of Forests.

It has been decided to sanction an amount of Rs 3.28 crores to Kollam Corporation to procure 47.6 cents from railways for the construction of underpass at Chinakkada.

Rs 4.58 crores have been sanctioned for the Moolampalli Rehabilitation Package. The cabinet has also decided to honour K J Yesudas by presenting him a Life Time Achievement Award for his contribution not only in the field of music but also in several other fields as well.

More funds have been sanctioned for giving financial help for the paddy farmers who suffered loss due to bund breach.

BSNL and SIDCO have been appointed as consultants of National Games. Desmond Netto and Sivasankar have been appointed as Director General and Treasurer of the Games respectively.
