Thiruvananthapuram 23-01-2012: CM today said that the State should be a model for the country in executing second generation development. The state should adopt a development model that includes all sections and sectors, added CM.
He was talking at a meeting held with the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia here. It was in the backdrop of 12th Five Year plan that the meeting was conducted in the name Vison 2030.
CM said that an approach paper would be prepared based on today’s meeting and will be open to discussion.
State government would draw up a perspective plan for Kerala for the next two decades with the help of the Planning Commission, said CM and added that Kerala would be the first State to draw up such a plan. The State can be the nursery for trying out solutions for second generation development problems. Discussions would be held with all sections of the society before the plan is finalised.
He noted that “inclusive growth” was the only option available in a democracy. He further observed that for any long term development plan to succeed, it was necessary to build consensus on issues that are vital to the State.
Minsters Aryadan Muhammad, P K Kunhalikutty, K P Mohanan, K C Joseph and Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran were also present.
