Thiruvananthapuram 02-02-2012: Modernized waste processing plants would be installed in all districts so as to find a solution to the problem of waste management, said CM. He was briefing the cabinet decisions here. The plants are imminent in four districts.
The existing waste treatment plants at Brahmapuram(Kochi) and Njeliyanparanbu ( Kozhikode) will be upgraded using the most modern technology. The land for the plants has been committed at Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam. The work will start after the place has been identified. Government has already taken steps to implement decentralized waste management process and this has reduced the amount of waste generated. Subsidy would be provided to set up the plants, said CM.
CM said that money will, in no way be a constrain for setting up successful model of waste processing. When a modern plant is installed, lot of areas will come as excess land where wastes are being treated. The industrial department would bring in new projects aimed at developments in the excess lands as the modern plants would need only about 5 acres in place of the 50 or 100 acres that is in use.
It has been decided to post Resident Medical Officers in the 15 Homeo Medical Colleges across the state, said CM. The Cabinet has also approved the teacher’s postings in the Higher Secondary Schools run by Gramma Panchayaths in Elappara and Kulanada.
The Cabinet has decided to notify an ordinance which authorizes the State Farmer’s Debt Relief Commission to look into the petitions filed till 31-10-2010. The Commission could only earlier check the petitions filed till 6 Jan 2006.
New building for Thampanoor Police Station
Instruction has been given to start the work of the new building for Thampanoor Police Station. Rs 40 lakhs has been sanctioned for this work by the Government. TRIDA will provide the rest 60 lakhs.
Job for Soumya’s Brother
Since there has been no progress in the proceedings to offer job by the Railways for the brother of Soumya, who was brutally killed during a train journey, the Government has decided to give job to her brother, said CM.
Financial assistance
The family of Vijalakshmi, who was brutally killed while returning from work at Kunnathoor in 2006, will be given Rs 3 lakh as compensation.
The noted poet Bharinikavu Sivakuamr’s, daugheter will be given Rs 5 lakhs towards educational expense.
The families of the 3 children who died in a vehicle accident during their morning walk at Kariyilakulangara will be given Rs 2 lakhs each.
The Cabinet has also decided to give Rs 5 lakh to Maria Roni, a member of the Asian team that won the World Junior Table Tennis Championship.
