Ten Commandments to Energize Kerala

For energizing Kerala in development and growth by leveraging the potential of its existing resources and by tapping the possibilities on the technology front, Sam Pitroda, the Chairman of National Innovation Council, laid out a ten-point development agenda for Kerala. In a meeting held recently in Thiruvananthapuram, Sam Pitroda came up with his ten-point development programme after holding detailed discussions with the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, the council of ministers and members of the Planning Board.

The ten-point development initiatives as per Sam Pitroda would play a key role in the field of development in the next three years. Sam Pitroda will respond with a detailed project report and guidelines pertaining to the ten-point initiatives, in three month’s time, starting from the date of his initial round of discussions held in Thiruvananthapuram.

The ten-point development programme envisaged would have in its fold the Development of coastal waterway; Insurance scheme through revenue generated through a small additional amount, charged along with mobile bills; Utilizing the services of those above the age of 55 years for the development of the State; Waste disposal project with the help of social investors; Modernization of traditional industrial sectors to augment development; Implementation of e-Governance for transparency in administration; Setting up of a Knowledge City comprising university, hospitals and schools; Modernization of vocational education; Transforming Kerala into the capital of Ayurveda in the world; and Implementation of high-speed railway system.
