Proposed High Speed Rail Corridor approved in principle: CM

New Delhi 09-02-2012: The proposed High Speed Rail Corridor from Trivandrum to Kasargode has been approved in principle by the Centre, said CM.

In this meeting with the Prime Minister, CM has asked the help of the Centre in getting loan from the Japanese Bank for the project. Prime Minister has approved this too in principle and congratulated the state for coming up with such a project aimed a the basic development, said CM.

CM also placed the needs and directions of the state before Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi. The date for laying the foundation stone for the Rail Coach Factory at Kanchikode will be announced soon.

CM has also asked to speed up the works regarding the setting up of an IIT in Kerala. High Speed Rail Corridor will be on a public- private partnership. For this project no excess land needs to be acquired and if needed adequate compensation will be paid, said CM and added that Special Railway Administrative Controller would take charge within two days.
