Government initiated planned development
of a waterway from Kovalam to Neeleswaram in three
stages. Kollam to Kottapuram segment is openes for
traffic. Kovalam - Kollam portion will be completed
in a year. Kottapuram – Neeleswaram segment
to be completed in 3 years. Already known as National
Waterway III, Kovalm-Neeleswaram waterway will give
untold benefits to Kerala’s economy.

a proactive and supportive IT Policy. Made big strides
in IT industry sector. Important IT companies started
functioning at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and
Infopark in Kochi. Smart city with SEZ status at
Kochi and Infocity in Thiruvananthapuram is taking
shape. Steps afoot for IT parks at Kozhikode and
Palakkad.

The dawn of the 21st century marked a fearful realization among the people of Kerala that the 111 year old Mullaperiyar dam loomed disaster for 5 districts of central Kerala. The LDF Government has been making assiduous efforts to garner support for building a new dam to avoid a human catastrophe.

The LDF Government has
made significant achievements in the field of science
and technology. An Intellectual Property Right Policy
for the State, preparation of the first scientific
map of Kerala, creation of a biotech hub at Thiruvananthapuram,
establishment of a Centre for Traditional Knowledge
in Food and Medicine, a Centre for Nano Technology
at Kollam etc. will be milestones in the development
of Science and Technology in the State. It is after
25 years that new institutions of Science and Technology
are being set up in the State
