SMART CITY AGREEMENT SIGNED: KERALA SURGES AHEAD

The Government of Kerala and Dubai based Media Free Zone Authority (TECOM) on May 13, 2007 signed an agreement to establish the mega and unique information technology infrastructure centre branded “SMART CITY” in Kochi. The project is first of its kind in India. With the emergence of SMART CITY, Kerala will become a prominent IT destination globally. The project envisages 88 lakh square feet of built-up space and infrastructure for IT and IT- enabled companies. It is estimated to generate 90,000 jobs in next ten years.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister, Sri. V. S. Achutanandan, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala, Smt. Lizzie Jacob and Executive Chairman, Ahmad Bin Byat.

The Ministers, Sri. C. Divakaran, Sri. Mullakara Ratnakaran, Sri. N. K. Premachandran, Smt. P. K. Sreemathy, Sri. S. Sharma, Sri. M. Vijayakumar, Global Smart City Ventures, Director, Fareed Abdulrahman, SAMA Dubai Executive Chairman, Farhan Faraidooni, Political Secretary to CM, Sri.K. N. Balagopal, Principal Secretary to CM, Smt. Shiela Thomas and IT Secretary, Sri. K. R. Jyothi Lal participated at this signing ceremony.
