Letter to Union Minister of Railways

Dear Sri. Suresh Prabhu,

I would like to bring to your notice, the following aspects relating to Thalassery Railway Station in Kerala:
1. Though Thalassery Railway Station enjoys A-Class status, it does not have even the basic amenities.
2. Second Plat Form does not have a ticket counter
3. Many of the trains do not have stop at Thalassery. The list of such trains is enclosed here with for your perusal.
4. It is very difficult to be in the queue for more than 30 persons at a time. The ticket reservation room is not spacious.
5. It seems this is the only station which does not have a canteen and a rest room.
6. There is no space for keeping luggage and no toilet in the waiting room for ordinary passengers.
7. Though there is an understanding for building up a Goods shed, it has not yet become a reality.
8. Because of the proximity to the Kannur International Airport thousands of people make use of this Railway Station for their travel. This aspect has not yet been considered by the authorities.

I would like to request you to consider these aspects and take remedial measures.

Yours sincerely,

Pinarayi Vijayan

Shri. Suresh Prabhu,
Hon’ble Union Minister for Railway,
Government of India.
