Letter to the Prime Minister : Vineeth- Indian Footballer job issue

Dear Shri. Narendra Modiji,

I would like to bring to your kind attention the unfortunate decision of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to terminate the services of the noted Football player and top scorer in India Premier Football League Shri. C.K. Vineeth, who was employed under the Sports Quota in the Accountant General’s Office, Thiruvananthapuram.

He has been terminated from his service apparently for shortage in attendance. The earlier act of the Government of India in employing him under the Accountant General’s office had in fact encouraged many similarly placed youth to take up the game seriously.

The decision to terminate, sadly, coincides with the commencement of the FIFA 2017 World Cup hosted by Kerala at Kochi in October, 2017.
I am of the firm opinion that even if Shri. C.K.Vineeth has fallen short of any technical requirement to continue in service, the same needs to be remedied keeping in view the advantage of allowing the footballer, who is in the prime of his career, to play in the sub national and national tournaments.

Therefore, I would request for your kind intervention with the Sports Ministry and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to review the decision to terminate his services and offer one more opportunity for him to continue in the employment of the Government.

I would be grateful for your kind gesture since I believe that it will send a sympathetic signal particularly in the backdrop of the FIFA 2017 World Cup scheduled also in Kerala.

With regards,

Yours sincerely,

Shri. Narendra Modi
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
