Letter to the Prime Minister (Ockhi – rehabilitation package)

Dear Shri. Narendra Modiji,

I write to express my deep and sincere gratitude to you for visiting the Ockhi affected coastal areas in Trivandrum on 19.12.2017, despite your busy schedules just before the parliament session.

We are grateful also for your support for the efforts of the State of Kerala in trying to save the lives lost at sea. I am also thankful to your promise to look into the ‘Reconstruction and Rehabilitation package proposed for Coastal Kerala’ submitted to you. The support has brought the much needed hope in this time of adversity.

The appreciation of the timely intervention of the State by the Minister of Home Affairs himself, on the floor of the Parliament has encouraged the State in continuing its efforts to locate its fishermen folk. The visits of the Minister of Defence, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and the Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Culture, and Tourism, Shri. Alphonse Kannanthanam, needless to say, has helped in appeasing the deeply distressed bereaving families of the families who lost their kith and kin at sea and the families of the missing fishermen.

Once again, I express my sincere gratitude to the all-out efforts of the Central Government in extending their timely support to the State and the families in the coastal communities in this hour of sorrow and grief.

With regards,

Yours sincerely,

Shri. Narendra Modi
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
