Letter to Union Minister of External Affairs

Dear Sushma Swarajji,

I would like to bring to your notice the pitiable plight of a Keralite who has been languishing in Suadi Jail for more than five months. Mr. Sreekumar, who worked with Almanama hospital, Alcobar, Saudi Arabia as a Staff Nurse was arrested in March 2016 following a complaint registered by a Saudi citizen. I have been told that the charge levelled against him is that the dead body of a new born baby, which was kept in the mortuary was missing. Mr. Soman Nair, father of Sreekumar who brought this to my notice is of the opinion that he is innocent and the charge is totally unfounded and baseless. However, the fact that a Keralite who faces criminal charge in Saudi jails is a matter that worries his parents and the people at large. It goes without saying that Mr. Sreekumar who does not have any financial resource or aid, badly needs legal assistance, which alone will be helpful for him to prove his innocence before the court. Against this backdrop I would request you to use your good office to see that Mr. sreekumar gets justice without delay. The petition received by me in this regard and the documents relating to his travel and stay are enclosed herewith for your kind perusal. I would once again request you to be kind enough to take up this matter with the Indian Embassy and the Saudi authorities. The details of Mr. Sreekumar follows:
Passport No. : 5795280
Iqama No. : 2389245743
Working with : Al Manama Hospital, Alkobar
Hospital ID No : 24171
Contact No. of his friend : Mr. Shinu George – 00966557161088

With regards,
Yours sincerely,

PINARAYI VIJAYAN
